Need Advice - Rescued neglected ball python.

Okay, I talked to someone who has a big tank they used to keep burmese pythons in and theyre going to give it to me, along with a good quality under tank heater, I got her a small rat a couple days ago, and she fed right away, and is doing very well. Shes still very docile and calm, and moving arround well right now. Soon she will have her new home and all will be well. She appears very healthy, Ive checked her body out fully, and see no scaring or other signs of healthy issues. Gonna wait a while to sex her, give her time to get used to her new home before I bother with that, but she doesnt seem to have any problems being handled.

How big is this tank? Ball pythons don't generally do well in huge tanks. But, if she's eating for you in what she's in now anything is better. I suggest getting some black Con-Tact paper from Home Depot for $6 and blacking out the two sides and back with it (on the outside). Now all you need a a thermostat for that heating pad and some nice hides for her Be sure to bleach the heck out of that tank when you get it and rinse it really well.....

From the sounds of it im guessing about a 40 gallon. And yeah definately on the cleaning part. Shes got a turtle in the tank now, but yeah, Dont want any residule smells or chemicals or anything else screwing with her habitat.

I would at least consider taking her to a vet. If she didn't have a heat source or proper humidity for an extended period of time she might have RI. I new to all of this as well so I could be totally off on that but I thought that I would at least put it out there. Maybe someone else could confirm this possibility?

Glad to hear you are getting proper housing lined up for "her".
Dont forget you need a t-stat for the heat pad
