Cinny Pewter VS Black Pastel Pewter

Can you tell the difference in a Pewter that's been made with a cinnamon vs a black pastel. The breeder I bought mine from told me black pastel or I don't think I would have been able to tell?

If the animals were produced by quality line animals then its night and day difference. This applies to any combos. This is why you see a quality grading being reflected in prices. For example you will see different prices for the same animal from different people and sometimes the price increase is because the person selling it may be a big breeder versus a hobbyist, and theybexpect you to pay for the name but alot of times its cause of the quality of the lines in the animal. Personally i think price grading is important cause a smokin animal should bring a better price.

If you know what to look for it's possible to tell a cinny pewter from a black pastel pewter. To me black pastels tend to look darker and have busier patterns than cinnies. I'm sure someone on here can describe it better.

Here are two pages, one for cinnies and one for black pastels. Looking at them you can notice some of the small differences.

Good cinny pewters tend to be a bit more silvery. Where as a good black Pastel pewter can be a bit more muddier brown. IMO I like the cinny pewters better. When I bought my sterling I specifically was looking for a cinny produced one.

I like both, and have one of each, but they are different and quite easy to tell apart.

Here is one of my Cinny Pewters. Around 1000 grams.

A couple of Sterlings that just hatched.

And a Pewter, Pewter Pied, and Pied from last year.

I like the Cinny Pewters better myself. Seems more people like the black pastel for some reason.

That pewter and those sterlings are smoking hot!

I agree. I don't see what people see in the Blacks over the Cinnies. Here's a male Cinny gene Pewter I hatched out this year...But the one you posted above may be the coolest Pewter I've ever seen.
