I'm glad it was found unharmed too
A room full of empty racks and thermostats that have been unplugged.

Reading the comments on that story gave me a huge migraine. Almost every other post was "OMG only good snake is a dead snake" or something as asinine. It is almost amazing how easily some people will demonize something when they do not understand it.

I agree, those comments were some of the most hateful things I've ever read. My favorite is: "Anyone who wants to own a snake is a social reject." I think it would really surprise that person to know just how many people keep snakes, and a LOT of them you would never suspect to have them. Ingnorant comments both me a lot.

Kinra- Could you imagine their expression if some of them knew that some of us actually breed our snakes? More than likely they would have a heart attack. Now that would be funny.

Here is a copy of the email that I sent, and his response.
Mr. Dipaolo:
I read your article this morning regrding the escaped boa constictor. In your article you referenced another story where a 2 year old child in Orlando was killed. That child was killed by a burmese python, not a boa constrictor.
Being a reporter I would think you would have your facts straight before printing a news article.
The boa constrictor in question that is "on the loose" only eats prey the size of rabbits, so unless people are leaving their newborn infants, and very small dogs unattended there isn't much to worry about. My concern is for the poor animal that has escaped it's enclosure, and the harm that may come to it because of someones irrational fears propagated by the media.
Regards,
Mrs. Lovelace
