Good find. Hope "she" works out and everything works out. Did the guys seem to have a good setup or any idea of what he was talking about. I found an adult male spider for 200 on Craigslist from a nice girl but the money situation didn't allow it. Good luck
A room full of empty racks and thermostats that have been unplugged.

1) how do you know it's a female?
2) an adult female at only 800 odd grams? Either he was maintenance feeding her or she's a picky eater...no fun there...
3) I hope you have "her" in QT...being a Craigslist pickup...chances are "she" was kept in a tank with the other two he was trying to unload...
and to Gabe...did you see a pic of the 80 dollar Pastel male? I'd gladly pay 80 bucks for the right one...Pastels are incredibly common... great looking Pastels aren't...

Well I'm waiting for a probe kit to make sure she is a female. However the snake is pretty long almost 4 feet. now while males do get that long it is more common for females to be this long. additionally he said he hadn't been feeding her very well as he couldn't afford to, which is why she is so skinny. And when i first got her I checked out the area from her vent to the end of the tail and it was shorter which is another indicator of a female. When I went to pick her up your thoughts did cross me mind but I put these together and I lean to believing the guy.
I also have a pin and pastel that I picked up at an expo and have never sexed and while I bought them as females they could be males. I also bought a female boa on kingsnake thats suppose to be 100%aney 66% kahl albino and she could be none of those thing. I also bought a het pied pair on craigslist that I still haven't sexed, they could both be males or both be females, or not even be het pieds.
I guess what I'm trying to say is you can't really trust anyone, you always hear of popular "big breeders" mis-sexing snakes, and some times even worse you receive a snake with mites or an RI. So I try not to be a downer, and yes all these thoughts cross my mind, but I think I'd rather get screwed over by a dude on craigslist then a "notable" person on fauna classifieds, kingsnake, or at an expo, just my opinion.

Ya he had 4 other red tails boas that were 4-6 feet he was trying to sell and an adult ghost female and adult normal male. The guy had just run up on rough times and couldn't keep taking care of his whole collection.

A reputable breeder is about 100 times LESS likely to screw you over than some clown on Craigslist...

Good find ! Much betterthan the two adult "green tree pythons" I went to pick up.... that turned out to be yearling normal balls.
"I specified green tree python with you 3 times on the phone..."
"I thought they were the same thing" she says.
I at least sexed them for her and explained they are not GTPs, green pythons, or anything other than normal ball pythons....
