Actually, the snake pictured looks like a really good example of a blonde pastel. I had one that looked a lot like that which had been produced by Will Slough. (he was known for having a very nice line of blondes with true blonde color)
As for the lighter baby you speak of, I'd put that male back to the same female he produced it with last year. If it's a hidden gene or something recessive, you may not get another one from a different female.
Since you know he's a viable breeder now, try putting him with a couple different girls again this year but id definitely put him back to the same girl as before.

How do you know this? Not trying to be difficult but there is plenty of captive breeding going on over there, and there has been for a long time. Did you pull it from the bush yourself?

So you think someone is going to steal a picture of a dead baby?! A simple watermark on the picture should settle your fears on that.

Sorry, I guess I misunderstood. The "meet the screwball" title and the statement above suggested to me that you were introducing some kind of new morph.

Well i figured id get trplies from the conspiracy theroists out there and thats fine. I have my own reasons for not wanting to share pics of the baby. But yea hes going back to the same normal girl. Again i am convinced hes a pastel of some sort but just cause he looks one way doesnt mean something else isnt going on. There are alot of crazy things going on with subtle morphs and hidden genes out there. And we keep stumbling upon weird things. Prime example , yellowbellies and what they do, het reds, etc. 10 years ago with the yellowbelly and the quest for the white snake and now you can produce a white snake a number of different ways. Does anyone remember what the first lucies were selling for? I do and it was nuts.

No offense, but it sounds like you're the conspiracy theorist...worrying about people stealing your picture of a dead baby snake and doing what with it? Without having the gene carrying snake, a photo would be pretty pointless to steal or try to claim as your own. I really hope this project works out for you, but this big show you are putting on seems kind of ridiculous to me.

Re: Meet the Screwball
@mike. Trust me i know what goes on over there and how animals come into the country. Ive been dealing with importers for 12 to 15 years. I know for a fact when and where this original female came from. Im not going to name drop cause thats not my style and im sure someone will reply with ,well if you cant provide proof then its not true lol, whatever i get it. As far as pictures goes i have my reasons. Call it paranoia or whatever ill own that. I am alittle paranoid in cases like this and i have my reasons. One example ill give is i bought an original stonewash one of the first males back in 2002 directlly from the source and because at the time i wasnt a household name i got slaughtered on the net for posting pics of the animal. At the time i didnt realize the reprocucions of posting the pic. Now if the pic was posted by a household name breeder like nerd, ralph, or any of the big guys at the time then it wouldnt have been an issue and none would have questioned a thing but because it was posted by a regular joe it became an issue and still to this day i dont know why really. Now as far as claiming genetics maybe i should re explain. I am claiming thete is something genetically going on with the animal. But i am NOT claiming it is a new morph yet. I will know the answers to that question hopefully in the spring. I am coining the name screwball cause if it does prove to be something then that is what it will be called. If its just a new line pastel that i have then i will revisit how i approach that. The quest for new morphs and new combos and new hidden genes is an everday thing and for years i have taken weird looking animals (dinker projects) and spent alot of time on trying to do the same thing. So i know when i got something crazy on my hands and i truly believe this is gonna be one of those types of animals.

No offense but if it seems so rediculous to you then why do you keep replying? I dont know how long you have been in this industry but unless you have been in it since the infancy of it i wouldnt expect you to understand my reasons for why i dont want to show pictures of the baby. My original thread is about the animal i put pictures up off and the story behind how he was hatched and what has happened with him to this point. Again i have my reasons, agree with them or not they are valid based on what i have seen and been through in the past before you had all the morphs you have at your fingertips today. And thank you i hope it pays off as well and i will have that answer this spring. This is an idustry of playing mad scientist and trying to tweak what nature has created so hopefully this pans out to do just that. If i post a picture of the baby and people see the father there will be all the drama of no way that produced that, you must be lying, your hiding something, etc etc etc. Bow if it produces again the same way then i can have the proof i need without any doubt. I have time dated warermakrked pics of the offspring and i will show those when i either produce it again or not. At that time i can put doubters to bed. I dont want to jump the gun on anything yet nor do i want to get into an online pissing match over an animal i dont know everything about yet. Hope that makes it clearer to my reasons. But again this post was about the male i hatched from the bush.

Forums are for the use of debating topics and gaining knowledge. I don't think their are any "doubters" that you produced something cool. I'm not sure where you came up with that? I trust that you have something cool in your freezer and I do hope you replicate it. This is all in good debate...Relax a bit. Cheers.

Ok, so I guess we have to take your word on it being pulled directly from the bush... and that it's not one of the many captive bred over there. After all you have been dealing with importers for somewhere between 12 and 15 years...
You have made multiple claims in this thread that it is at least some new line of pastel. Good luck with that.
Mike
PS
If you are so paranoid about people getting details and seeing pictures, maybe next time you would be better off not posting about it in a public snake forum?

Re: Meet the Screwball
@mike. Getting the name screwball out was the main goal. Goal accomplished. 404 people have visited the post and now know the name so if it does prove to be something new then it was posted first here. If it doesnt then it was posted here that im the idiot who just named a dinker pastel lol. Either way ill own it
