    Maybe not. The male might have great genetics, but the number of ova a female rat releases in a cycle is determined by her body, not the male's. The number of ova released and how many implant without being reasorbed are mostly what determines the # of babies. A female that releases a huge # of eggs at one time is creating the potential for a huge litter.
