With time and handling she should calm down. My 1st carpet,Hazard, was a lil demon the day she came in. She'd strike at any and everything, including herself. My gf and I just kept handling her and a few months later she stopped being a demon.

I would suggest a routine, always use the same sanitizer and maybe tap her head with a paper towel roll or something else that wont hurt if she tags it.. and patience
The main reasons I have heard baby carpets are sooo nipy is A) they think they might starve to death, high feeding response = high amount of strikes at anything that could be food and B) you are soooo much bigger than they are they are easily made defensive... The ritual could help with the bites if they are due to feeding response and if they are due to her being scared the patience might serve you even better.
The main thing I have heard is that they calm with age, my male coastal (who I rescued as an adult) is super tame and calm.. hell he even likes his chin scratched.
Good luck!!

I hope you find her!!!! check anywhere she might have squeezed into, I have found 1 of my girls coiled up in a shoe two rooms away from her rack.. keep us posted!

Well, I went and got another carpet. A male this time and he's 5 feet long already. Got him set up in his new tank and have plenty of locks for this guy, he's not going anywhere. Still keeping a mouse out and a hide for the baby girl, hopefully she comes back I'll post pics of "blue" later on.

Coastals are lovely. I have seen this cross once before, often coastals are used in crosses due to the large sizes they get to.
I live in Australia myself and am starting to get into hybrids and morphs of morelia cheynei.
not alot of people here like the idea of hybrids, however with a skilled eye and some time wonderful hybrids can be produced. for example I plan to cross a high yellow diamond python with a black and gold jungle, i have seen this cross before and it is awesome
heres one from the aussie forum im part of: a jungle diamond jag
