Thermometer placement
Just got my baby PB, I have 2 thermometers and want to know the best place to put them. Right now one is in the warm hide and i put the other in the open on the cool side of the tank. Is that a good set up?
Cheers

Welcome to the site and congrats on the pick-up!!
Sounds like a good start - When I had my aquarium setup I had one in the hot hide and one in the cool hide. Not sure what you are using for a heat source, but make sure that you are using some sort of thermostat or rheostat to control it's output. Heatpads (especially on glass) can get very hot and do some serious damage to your snake!

Re: Thermometer placement
Thanks for the reply, ok so sounds like Im gonna need a rheostat or thermostat. Basically I have a heat pad under the glass and then i put 4 layers of paper towel over the area of the heat pad and about 3 over cooler side so the glass doesnt get too hot. I also have a lamp shining down over the warm side but its hard to keep the temp stable. When it gets to like 94f i turn the lamp away but then it cools down so i have to turn the lamp back on. Should the heat pad be enough on its own without a lamp?
Appreciate the help.

What size tank are you using?
The heat pad will definitely keep your warm spot hot enough, without the lamp you may run into some low ambient air temperature. The heat lamp (I would suggest you use an infrared [red] lamp) will keep up your ambient air temp, but will reduce your humidity.
Just make sure that you have the essentials - A thermostat or rheostat is a must! 2 digital thermometers to monitor your hot/cool. 2 identical hides (hot and cool side). Adequate size water dish. Good substrate (something like aspen) and a little TLC!
