Afterwards I told my wife that if I can at least spread a little knowledge I would feel better and the BP would have a fighting chance. She said she understood and was willing to help me make some small information cards that I could hand out to people.

Good for you that you did this! When I ordered a BP.net t-shirt, Judy (JLC - admin) was kind enough to send a handful of BP.net pamphlets. These things are great - I've already handed a few of them out! They give plenty of care info (hides, temps, feeding tips, etc) plus letting new owners know of this online resource for additional help. Maybe you can get some of these pamphlets, too.
