That is a sad story. I hope the amel gets better. It's a shame that there are so many neglected animals in the world.

That is terrible, but I'm glad you got him back. This is the type of thing that scares me the most when I sell my Miniature Donkey foals. Which is why I try my best to ask the potential adopter many questions before considering selling one. I also give them my own care sheet or sit down with them and have a nice long conversation about how to properly care for them and when to have the vet give them vaccinations and what-not. Unfortunately, even when going to that extent to be sure they have the opportunity to give the animal proper care, it is all up to them once the animal leaves my home. It's always heartbreaking to see one of my foals loaded up into a trailer and sent to a new home where most of the time I will never hear from or see them again. Luckily, I've sold a few to families who enjoy giving me updates on the ones they've taken home. We can't always prevent our animals from going to poor homes, unfortunately. This kind of heartbreak sort of goes hand-in-hand with breeding and selling animals. Terrible truth.

I am so sorry for you and your poor snake. Like you say it is easy to spout what the animal needs and another thing all together to actually do it. There are so many people that are able to put on a good front and once they get the animal they do what they want with it. You are not at fault, as you had no idea this would happen but that doesn't lessen the pain to see one of your animals so badly neglected and one dead. It does make you want to strangle the man that had the snake (or put him in the same conditions he had the snake in).

Good luck with getting your guy back on his belly (lol I was going to say feet) and healthy again. He is in the best of hands and we will be sending prayers and good vibes your way for him

aw, that is horrid! people who have no interest in educating themselves on the animals that they have should not be allowed to have pets... I am so glad you are equipped to take care of the little guy. Hope he gets better soon, keep us posted!

Oh yeah, I am editing to say that I love the phrase "eats my lunch"... I am def gonna use that...

That's just terrible, but glad you got it back so no it has a chance.

How hard is it to just go to one stinkin' website to research basic care? When I was 12 and wanted a Green Iguana, I did research for 3 months before getting a rescued sub-adult; I was going online, reading books, and asking pet stores/other iguana owners. I know CHILDREN who own corns and are in perfect health! Sometimes people can just tick me off.

    Exactly!

We've done business with one kid several times. He might be 15 at the most. He has gotten 2 corns, a king, a dumeril boa and a pair of amazon tree boas from us. I know I felt sketchy when I sold him the first corns, but he keeps us updated on them and they are all thriving. There is hope for humanity, albeit just a glimmer at this point.

That how I feel. And thats why I always do routine check ups on the animals I sell or let go of to make sure everythings still okay.... that is if they're being truthful
Im sorry that that had to happen to your lovely corns, I hope the amel pulls through for you
