Female ASF Does Continuous Back Flips
I picked up some ASFs Saturday and there is one female that is continually doing back flips. I have seen lab mice that were bred for a specific type of study do the same thing but that was a side effect.
Anyone ever see this type of behavior? I'm not sure if I should breed this female. I'd love to see if she would pass on this trait but who needs a tub full of back flipping ASFs. Then again, maybe I could sell them for a higher price.

Well, normally, when I see an abnormal behavior in my breeding stock, I instantly cull it.
9 times out of 10, it's inner ear problems, or ear mites....
Although, several years ago, I had a colony of dwarf hamsters that did flips. I took the to the vet, just to see what the problem was... He didn't find anything at all wrong

I saw her rubbing her ear on the ground this morning so I will put her down when I get home tonight. Hopefully it didn't spread to any of the others.

Is she doing high back flips? I have had some do that sometimes, and what they're trying to do is reach the top of the cage. Mine will flip for quite some time, and eventually they'll latch onto the screen top of the cage and hang there for a bit until you shoo them down.

It figures. I came home and she stopped doing it. I don't know which one it was.
I'll see tomorrow morning.
