Need help identifying this Boa

Ok, I'm A Ball Python fan so I am not at all familiar with Boas but a friend asked me if I could try to find out what exactly he picked up...so of course I came here for help Can anyone identify this Boa? Is it anything special? I've been around a few but never seen one with such a spotted pattern on it's belly before.

Im no specialist so someone else will be able to prob give you an exact answer, but it looks like a Red Tail Boa to me. a different morph maybe.

I'm not sure, maybe it's a different locality. I love that belly though! I'm pretty sure it's not a true red tail(saddles and the color of the tail), so it's a BCI for sure I think. I don't know if it's colombian, it looks sort of funky. Maybe just a really speckled colombian. I don't know my boa localities!!

I'd say it's not a morph, though. A jungle would be gold like that but would have a cleaner pattern(fewer speckles) even if it wasn't a wonky pattern


But honestly I'm new to boas too! So I could be wrong!

That's a common boa, Boa constrictor imperator (not a red tail; red tail boas are B. c. constrictor, but Colombian imperators are often mislabeled as red tails). There's really no way to determine locale if you don't know what the parents are. Colombians are the most common Bci locale in the pet trade, but he looks a bit more like a Colombian crossed with a darker locale, perhaps something like a Nicaraguan or a Tarahumara mountain boa.

Like I said, there's no way to determine locale for sure, but he's a beautiful boa! I love the belly speckles.

It looks like a Red Tail Boa, I have one and it looks like that.. Maybe its a Morph who knows?

Not necessarily (in regards to the speckles). My jungle has a bunch of them, though not as many as the OP's boa, but he is quite peppered. Not all jungles (as with any morph) are made the same and some arn't as good as an example as others.

I agree with Herps4Life: looks to be either a common Colombian or a Colombian cross. Pretty either way!

It shows strong characteristics that are common with Central American locale bci.
So this would mnake me belive it to be a a CA of unknown locale or CA cross

This is absolutely correct. It is a Common Boa Constrictor (BCI). Not a true Red-Tail (BCC). You can tell for sure by the tail - a BCC would have solid bright red tail saddles. Once you see one, there's no mistaking it.

I agree that it looks like this snake might be a columbian crossed with a nicaraguan, but there is no way to know for sure unless the snake's breeder could provide documented lineage. But that belly makes me think this might be so.

One thing is for sure, it's a gorgeous snake!!!
