    its common and its because your brain is between sleep and waking when you sleep your brain releases a chemical that essentially paralyzes you so you don't act your dreams when you hit this state you are still kind of dreaming so you can't move are conscious and having sometimes both auditory and visual hallucinations.. just try wake up move a finger or toe and it will snap out .. it is distressing and scary but thats all it is
