All the things my parents didn't want me to do when I lived with them, I made sure to check off the "to do" list when I went to college.
Be patient, but don't give up. My best advice is to be positive, persistent, and positiveYes, that had to be in there twice, as any people in positions of authority are much more willing to give into reasonable and happy requests than angry demands.
