This is not B.S. She is a good friend of mine that I grew up with since I was 12 years old. She asked if I could point her in the direction of reptile owners like myself who take pride in there reptiles an asked if I could pass the word along. I can speak to her directly to find out exactly what is gong to be on the show so everyone who is jumping down her throat needs to relax. Not everybody is out there to make this hobby look bad. She has been working on shows such as who the bleep did I marry and so on. Shes not some troll just looking to make the hobby look bad Hence why shes asking to people that actually know what there talking about and not just some person that will tell you a ball python will get 20 feet and kill you and your kids. Any one who has any questions about this please contact me and I will speak directly to her and find out exactly what will be on the show. Thank you.

She's in casting. My understanding is that casting has NOTHING to do with what is actually aired. Directors and producers and advertisers all call those shots, not casting.

She may be your friend, she may be a good person, but this will not end well for us or our hobby. If they wanted facts not sensationalism her request would not have been worded as it was.

Listen im not going to argue with you. I know the outcome of most shows they show on tv about reptiles and them making a bad name for it. I will speak to her directly today and make sure the show is about reptile keepers who actually know that there talking about and not just some random keeper than doesnt know there arm from there leg. No one is holding a gun to any ones head about this. She asked me to point her in the right direction to educated owners and thats what I did. If you guys feel its not going to turn out the right way thats fine as well. But dont think bc of past events that everyone is out to get us(reptile keepers).

I truly wanted to know what other animal shows she cast or worked on for reference to anyone thinking about contacting them. The original post was truly worded like a Jerry Springer advertisement, no offense.

Just because the show would be about reptile keepers who really know their stuff DOESN'T mean what they say will not be taken out of context or skewed to get the desired effect of the show that the producers are looking for. I seem to remember an old post about someone who's friend was asked to do a show on keeping a lot of reptiles and later found out the show was more about hoarders. I just think she should provide more information given the horrible media lately making reptiles look like monsters.

I agree 100 percent that is why I told to make an account and see how things go. I ve already spoken to her many times to let her know that if your company is going to turn the show into a making reptile keepers look bad you can forget about the whole thing. I would hate to see another show make us look bad. So I understand the concern about how she wrote things. No one has to agree to anything and I know that 99 percent of you are against it. If you guys feel that it will only turn out bad then simply delete the thread and that will be that. I figured if shes gotta get people for the show at least get people with the proper education on the animals rather than just anyone. Theres no hurt feelings from her or anything she just simply asked someone to point her in the right direction. Like I said before I totally understand where you guys\girls are coming from and why you guys\girls are so defensive.

First of all, the show "Who the bleep did I marry" is a sensationalist show that likes to play off people's fears of the unknown. With that as her credits, I'd suggest that anyone who likes this hobby stay FAR away.

Second of all, when the first three statements of the kinds of people she wants to cast are:

Well.. that's exactly the kind of sensationalist tabloid material that portrays the hobby in a bad light. Actively seeking out feisty hots, irresponsible owners, and individuals in relationships where snakes cause stress and problems is not showing what the hobby is about. "Crazy antisocial weirdos obsessed with giant, venomous, killer scaley pets next door, breaking up relationships and endangering your children" is exactly the kind of show I expect when I read the quote above.

A show about a boring neighborhood kid with a pet corn snake that was much more interesting when it was first bought than it is now at two years old, and some guy out of college trying to get his long-term pets to breed while holding a steady job in accounting.. now THAT would be accurate to 99.999% of the hobby.

Thanks Judy. I'm not a "troll" as you all have been putting it though it is a very clever name. If someone is interested and they submit info and we like what we see, of course we will be letting you know the series name and the network. We just are not allowed to post the name on forums. I hope you all can understand if you are interested, please do contact me cause I can fill you in on details.

At least in this venue...for once...some level of program manager may actually see our concerns and realize the degree of skepticism and cynicism they have created in the real animal lovers they think they are marketing to.

What makes you believe that anyone on a reptile forum would agree to do this, particularly in light of this statement alone?
