Quick update: She ate for the first time last night...and it was certainly not what I expected. Chondros have this reputation of being aggressive and unpredictable, especially after it gets dark. Well....I slid open the glass door to her enclosure and reached in with the f/t mouse in the tongs and she slowly crept towards it....smelled it....and gently put her mouth on the mouse's head. When I let go with the tongs, she then proceeded to aggressively constrict....but I was very surprised at her easy-going feeding response. I am hoping that this doesn't mean that she will be a problem feeder for me in the future. She is 1 1/2 years old already, so she is an established eater. I'm probably just being neurotic.....lol.

Wow. Lovely snake! And the set-up is great too. I want to do something like this for my red tail boa. The GTP is my dream snake. Maybe one day... But she really is pretty! I love those powder-blue diamonds too!

What company did you go with for your cage or did you build it?
I don't remember if you posted where you ordered yours from or if you built it yourself. So, if you already did post that information then I apologize.

I cut the tree branches off of a small white oak tree in my backyard, scrubbed them down with a bleach/water mixture, rinsed EXTREMELY WELL, and let them bake in the 95 degree sun for a couple days. I also use a Dremel tool to grind any sharp or pointy parts off of the branches.
They are being held up there by ordinary closet rod holders which are attached to the inside of the enclosure with industial strength velcro. I wanted everything to be easily removable when it came time to clean the cage.
Thanks to everyone for the kind words!!!

Where did you get your RHP? does it cover the entire back of the cage? I am looking for one for my 75 gallon tank that my Costal Carpet is housed in.

I got my RHP from Reptile Basics. I got the 80 watt model and it covers about 1/3 of the length of the tank and about 90% of the width. If you email Rich with your cage dimensions and the type of animal you are putting in it, he will tell you which wattage RHP will suit your needs.
Are you trying to put one in a glass tank? I'm not sure how to do that. RHP's are usually mounted on the ceiling of the enclosure. I've never seen one on the back or side of a tank. Ask Rich at Reptile Basics....he is the expert.
