Shoot the messenger much? I think a lot of posters to this thread should take a moment to try to see from the op's perspective. My $0.02. I await your flames (or not).

I think everyone does understand the OP's perspective. I just think the OP may not understand it from a sellers perspective. I don't know who this seller is. Maybe he/she really is a bad dealer, but from a sellers perspective, animals are not sold until the money is in your hand. There are just way too many people who flake out to do it any other way.

That is a reasonable way to do it, but the problem is that unless you are selling something that is pretty rare the people 2nd, 3rd ..... in line have long since moved onto another breeder. That is why I always prefer Paypal. At least with paypal you know relatively quickly who is backing out.

Of course. You're right, nothing is ever truly sold until the money and the goods change hands.
Personally I've dealt with good sellers, but I've also unfortunately had my run-ins with the bad. Some breeders (even though they may produce amazing animals) could still learn a lot about customer service.
Fortunately there are also those who 'get it', and they're the only ones who will see repeat business from me.
As with anything else I buy, I vote with my dollars.

In that case the seller is in the wrong if they did agree to hold the animals for a certain amount of time and sold it before the time had expired. That is a shame. Good luck on your next purchase.

Ok how about these apples. I think the name of the breeder needs to be posted so they can be aware of this thread. This way we can get both sides of the story and they can have the chance to defend themselves.

I know it sucks, but I have to agree with the others. When we first started out we were gullible and often held animals for people on a promise. At one time somebodies word was as good as cash in hand. Not nowadays.

We do not hold anything now, with the exception that sometimes we will accept a non-refundable cash deposit, but that is on a case to case basis.

As I've said before, the bigger breeders/sellers must have the patience of a saint because in our experience, we might have one actual buyer for every 20+ replies/inquiries we get.

I wonder if I should make a BOI thread regarding all the people that have contacted me and say I will buy the animal or even those that back out of a deal once a contract was entered and a deposit was made.

That's business it happens sad and unfortunate but since there was NO transaction here there is absolutely no ground for a BOI thread.

If I see an animal I am interested in I send payment immediately, I do not wait simply because in most cases it will really be a first come first serve with most breeders.

Actually, that sounds like a good idea to me. There's no reason that it can't go both ways; and as far as I know, there's nothing stopping you from doing that. If breeders did that maybe buyers would be more accountable, and some sellers could check a buyer's BOI feedback before jumping to the conclusion that the buyer's a flake.

As for the rest of your post, the guy said he wasn't at a computer at the time. Cut him some slack.
Just as not all sellers are the bad guy, neither are all buyers.

Sounds only fair to me. On that note, this should really be in the BOI section.
