Congrats on the new additions! M. robustum are I think my favorite to look at as slings, they're so striking even at that young of an age! So far though a G. Pulchra and A. Versicolor are on my list next



Haha this is so true! At first I got my sling and thought it would be my only tarantula. WRONG. I enjoy them so much, and I wound up getting another not much more than a week later If you do it, you won't regret it!

Thanks!! The pokey's freaked me out a bit before I got into them also in all honesty. Especially when reading the bite reports You just need to be very careful and alert when working with them. I REALLY enoying working with them now but my wife is not to keen on them because of the potent venom so I am not able to keep to many. I love the ones I can keep though I would rather work with a pokey any day then a New World tarantula. You just have to concentrate on not being bit with the Pokey's but the New World's all have those stupid itchy hairs to deal with and if they don't kick them at you they are in the stupid substrate and you have to deal with them durring cage maintance etc. I hate those dreaded hairs - lol!!!!! They make me break out in little red itchy welts that don't go away for like a week or two I have heard the Megaphobema genus have some pretty bad hairs and I am not looking forward to dealing with that - lol.

Awesome looking creatures dude! I am deathly afraid of these spiders but they are still cool looking!

My wife did a lot of research on some of the OW T's, and after reading some bite reports on the Ornamentals, decided not to get any. That and she's still a novice and the small kids around. NW T's are the way we went. For now. May look into getting some OW ones later on.

Yeah the bite reports are a very scary thing!!! I hope I never, never, never have to experience a bite from one of them!!! I only work with the Old World's that I like which isn't really many. I am not gotta have them all type of person. I like what I like and that's about the end of it - lol. You guys just take your time and when you guys feel ready then move up. Maybe an Old World with not such a strong venom to get used to working with OW's. If your never ready or not even really interested then you still got a TON of beautiful New World's you guys can work with!! There are some realy amazing New World's out there and if the hairs don't bother you guys then your good to go!!! I just really hate them hairs I deal with the hairs for some but I just really don't care for those hairs and it limits the amount of New World tarantula's I wish to work with in all honesty. I have to really like the T to deal with the possible hairs - lol. The hairs never used to bother me at all but over time it just got worse. I guess they can't really bother me to much because I have not completely given up on the hair kickers yet

I have always had a fear myself.. was in a reptile store a couple months back and they had hundreds and hundreds of T's. In Lodi, Ca. The lady working there convinced my to just "pet" one of them on the underside of him and I was sooo amazed how friggin' soft he/she was! Velvety soft actually, almost somewhat soothing to an extent.

I have arachnophobia.... and after few encounters with HUGE !!!! Wolf Spiders in Florida it got even Bigger... ( one day I go sleep to friend house just because we have HUGE !!!! Wolf Spider in Living room) but in Cage when i have protective "glass barrier" they are quite interesting...

I'm working on it... next reptile show I'll try hold one and if I'll do I'll post pictures to prove it !!!
