posted above - its tough to sell animals at a petstore that are nocturnal and hide all day. Not saying it's right...but thats why they don't get proper hides.

So, now, without any proof, people from states thousands of miles from this store are calling the BBB?

peta and hsus love people like you. I hope your charter memberships are all paid up.

Did ANY of you think to call the store, to ask ANYONE for pictures, to see if maybe the OP had an axe to grind, do ANY fact finding at all?

Or is it easier, just plain and simple not as hard, to jump on a bandwagon and start beating your chest over these injustices?

I suppose, being as how N.M. IS in the desert that maybe, just maybe, even with proper access to water in the cage, combining air conditioning and it's sucking moisture from the air and the desert itself giving up no moisture, those snakes with stuck sheds (and we have NO idea how much stuck shed is on how many snakes nor for how long it has been there) must be being terribly abused.

I would imagine that there are no heat guns available, that the snakes are never fed-shedding just happens you know, no need to feed-they are cramped into tiny (custom built hmmmm) cages, and we ALL know how much ball pythons HATE small spaces, and, knowing how all snake experts agree, especially the ones, expert wise, that have tons of experience (having kept as many as THREE snakes for as long as FOUR months guaranteeing not only vast amounts of experience of the highest degree and greatest accuracy possible to attain by hands on keeping) that keeping more than one snake in ANY container be it a custom made display cage or a tiny plastic tub, is WRONG.

Ummmm, yeah, ya see, the only thing WRONG here is that a bunch of you have gone off on .,..... nothing. No proof. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Zero.

Maybe this store is satan's sphincter. Maybe it isn't. Does anyone REALLY know?

I'm glad people like you didn't try to cop attitudes with me when I was working retail. Your face punching desire may have not had the results you anticipated.

Post some pictures if you want to verify your claims. As for the rest of you wagon jumpers, way to go, ra ra ra sis boom ba, what lovely cheerleaders you make, oh vacuous keepers of reptiles.
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?

Oh yes, because I get a real real hard on, from making erroneous charges against pet stores on random reptile forums. I love putting pet stores out of business. It's how I get my kicks. I only waited 53 posts on here to express my beef with this particular one.....think before you speak.

It wasn't an attack on you, it was an attack on everyone jumping on the bandwagon because someone on the internet says so. If your going to report them you will need proof of actual neglect, not having hides is not neglect. Signs of illness or unhealthy animals would be the main thing. Humidity isn't even truly an issue if it doesn't cause any health problems... whats a little dry shed? obviously i can lead to problems, but itself is not something you can report on.

If you know anyone more experienced you could have them talk to the manager and explain some of this, or at least have them check it out. I mean the pet store by me used to do something things that were less than acceptable just because the guy has been keeping reptiles for 25 years, but was still using 25 year old information. A lot has been discovered since then and once you explain why we do things certain ways, he changed his ways. No reporting necessary, just simple explanation. If I owned a store and you started harping on me about hides, I would tell you the same thing he did.

I suppose hardons are VERY important to you.

Well, we all keep our brains somewhere, it's nice to know yours gets some fresh oxygen every now and then.

Perhaps if when you spoke you engaged your upper brain, then non hardon one, you may appear, possibly though it is doubtful judging from what I have seen so far, at least slightly intelligent and not as a raging boner looking for somewhere to explode.

You know, like you are now.

sigh, what wilomn was trying to say is that you simply should have tried to educate the store manager about why you feel the living conditions were inadequate. from the looks of it the op feels attacked as do most of the targets of wilomns replies so I've seen. sadly everything mentioned above is true about hides not being used because then the nocturnal animal wouldn't ever be displayed. No need for the sarcastically phrased responses, while you are seemingly educated and have an obvious care for the animals wilomn I do feel your approach when replying usually causes more drama then it would have if you had simply stated your advice and moved on.

but I do understand if that is just your nature and respect that may just be your way of helping, just think you'd be more helpful without the sly remarks is all :/

When I was a child I had a puppet. In his back was a coiled string. On that string was a ring of plastic.

When pulled, the puppet would talk.

How can I be faulted for seeing strings with rings and being unable to resist fulfilling their very reason for being?

    How unkind would that be?

Bps are not display animals but pet stores do have to display them to sell them! I want to see what the animal looks like before I inquire about it. Education is the strongest weapon! Teach them about stuck sheds and how to remove them! It may not be done on purpose, it may be just a lack of knowledge! They can't ban pet stores from selling them or we would get banned from owning them!

it would be incredibly unkind of you to resist such a temptation.
