How to Keep Rats Cool During Summer?!
So I have to relocate my rats to the garage, because my parents are re modeling our gameroom upstairs (I'm 16). I can't put them in my room either (thats where the snakes are, and plus they smeel BAD). So I am forced to put them in the garage. I'm in Texas, so it is HOT in my garage during the summer. I have NO PLACE to put them besides the garage. I'm going to be building new racks for them out of 2x3's and cement mixing tubs. I just want to keep them cool enough so that they will breed and be comfortable.
Any methods?

But rats like it cooler then snakes! Use fans or ad a cheap wall mounted ac unit. and just monitor the room for a few days.

My rats are kept at room temp os 80-82 ALL year and breed non stop. Consistent temps gives consistent results

You garage will get too hot if there is no AC. Better off outside under a tree then in an oven. I am in SW FL and my garage gets into the high 90's low 100's. I am assuming Texas is not too much better than that. At least outside they will have some breeze and ventilation. Even box fans in my garage would lead to a box of deadies. I would not let them go much over 90 if you want them to breed. Certainly not over 100 to live.

You'll need a/c in a garage in the summer.

Unless you want to come home to a garage full of cooked, gross rotting rats one day, you'll need an AC.
A rat in that heat will die very quickly, and a dead rat in that heat will rot very quickly.
I would suggest putting them in your room and dealing with the smell until you have something better.

I hadn't even thought about this since I got my rats last fall. Though I don't recall my garage really getting that hot in the summer.
