Madison had some scale rot and is now, since she shed, missing some scales (you'll see the white spots on her). Still looking better than she was, though.

Apologies for the picture quality. This imo was my best normal.. rich colours, although still pretty small, was under 2ft. she was pretty, but sadly died 2 weeks after arriving, really annoying. Yeah I did get a refund. I'll post my others up when I can, got another 2.

A normal does NOT become a pastel no matter how bright it is, unless it carries the Pastel gene! this is the point of this thread.. Normals can be very gorgeous, they carry more variety than any of the morphs, some being bright like pastels, others being dark like cinnamons, even some looking axanthic! They aren't line bred like the morphs are so you get a lot more variation in them!

A pastel is a real co-dominant trait, a single gene that controls that yellow color. A bright normal has a variety of different genes that could just make him brighter than usual! It's all how they pass down the genes to their offspring. Sort of how you breed a pastel to a normal you will get pastels and normals, or a pastel to a pastel and you get pastels and super pastels! A bright normal will get you a bunch of normals in a variety of brightness.. It wouldn't fuse with another morph the way a pastel would, maybe it could brighten up the children, but a bright normal to a lesser would not make a pastel lesser. Get what I mean?

Normals have a lot going on for them! They can be gooorgeous, as you can see from this thread! I think it's very good to pay attention to them. A lot of breeders use normals when breeding codoms and dominant traits, but a lot just seem to buy just any old normal they find when really you could probably find a normal to fit your project perfectly! See how many options there are? it's awesome!
