I have a couple q's about converting a fridge to an inc

Hi all,
So my conversion fridge to incubator project is under way. While we were gutting It though a couple questions came to mind.
1. Do I secure the flex watt to the back or bottom? Does it matter?

2. Humidity? How would I go about having it maintain proper humidity? Should I put a tub Of water in it?

I'm including a pic of the gutted mini fridge. Well it's more like a 1/2 size fridge. Is there anything else that maybe I'm not seeing? Or perhaps I'm over thinking it.
We will be installing:
Fan
2' of 11" flexwatt
T stat
Switch on light
Shelves


I did a lot of reading on the subject. But maybe I'm missing the target on some if it.

I think the flexwatt placement is kind of a personal taste thing. I ran mine up the back simply because i figured it would help prevent hot spots and promote a more even heat. As far as humidity the moisture really should be inside the tub not just the incubator. There are several threads here about how to do it but I personally use wet vermiculite in a tub with a plastic mesh separating the egg from the vermiculite. This allows the vermiculite to be much wetter as the eggs don't actually touch the substrate. Hope this helps good luck and have fun.

Ah ha thx. Yes right now I have a few hovas going. They just dont hold but 1-2 clutches. I use sealed containers with vermiculite in them and that seems to work. So if the heat stays at my 90.f range the humidity will be fine in the tubs. Just wanted to check bc with the hovas I put the water in the bottom. I didn't exactly know how I'd do that with the fridge conversion. Although I've seen folks use the fish heaters in water or putting the heat under a tub of water.

Alrighty so everything so far seems to be in place. I'm still waiting on my tstat to get here so we haven't sealed it up yet but thought I'd take a pic and share anyways. Let me know if anything could be improved or changed.
I'm not too terribly handy so I'm impressed with myself so far. I'm giving it a test run to see how warm it can get inside just to make sure I've got enough heat in it. In the door I've got the bottles of water to stabilize temps as others have done.

looks good so far man... im gonna be starting a fridge incubator really soon, i got like a stand up full fridge maybe like around 16c.f should house MORE than enough tubs of eggs than i can produce right now its gonna be wicked over kill but my parents fridge died from their camp so im stealing it haha
