    incubator questions

alright everyone so my herpstat arrived yesterday and so far it's held temps perfectly since then. I'm going to run it for the next month since my female is due to lay in a month. my questions are

    1. currently I have the thermostat probe in the actual egg box which seems to make the most sense to me. is this how you do it? I've read that the temps will fluctuate as the hatchlings getting closer to hatching so having the probe in the egg box will cause it to be cooler than it should be.

    2. I will be moving into an apartment june 10th which would be right in the middle of incubation theoretically. theres a chance I may have to move the incubator and take it with me but I am going to try my hardest to see if it can stay at it's current location( my dads house). has anyone here had to move an incubator during the process and if so how did you do it and what was the outcome? my incubator is a Coleman cooler

thanks for all your help bp.net!

DO NOT move the incubator while eggs are incubating inside of it.

alright and did you have any info on my first question?

I had read on a different thread about someone having to move it.

Theoretically, if the incubator temp is say 89 then the temp in the box should be 89!

    Re: incubator questions

I place the thermostat probe in an egg box along with a thermometer probe. I also have a thermometer probe hanging free in the incubator so I can monitor temps in and out of the egg box. PS. I LOVE our Herpstat too, very little fluctuation unless I open the door.

Sorry, I don't have experience moving a clutch. Maybe some one can chime in with the best way to go about it.

    How far are you moving?

i wouldn't be moving more than 20 minutes away but I think I found a way for me to not have to, it was just more of a precautionary question. right now that's exactly how I have my Tstat set up with the probe in the box and a thermometer probe in box as well.
