Shellie, I mean this in the kindest way.

You may well need the support of others in this that are going through the same thing. Perhaps there's a group at school or your church if you go to one that you could join.

Nicotine is seriously addictive, as you know. Also, trading one addiction for another, as you so frequently see in the cult that is AA, is not necessarily good. If you set your sites on playing your cello and that doesn't work out for whatever reason, that failure could move you right back into the habit you're trying to quit.

Quit so you can run a mile in 7 minutes. Quit so your clothes and breath don't stink. Quit to save money. Quit for your own self esteem and the satisfaction of being in control of yourself. Quit to thumb your nose at the people and companies that are willing to kill you in a horrible fashion so they can spend your pennies. Quit so that if you have children they will be healthier and live longer. Be an example for those, once your success has been cemented, who wish to quit but think they can't.

And, if along the road you fail, get your butt, lol, off the ground and start over NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES IT TAKES until you succeed.

Do it for you. You don't have to do it alone.
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?

My mom just quit smoking for the first time since I was born. She's been smoking since her teens, about ~30 years. The strangest thing was she didn't smell like smoke, but it was amazing.

I hope you succeed in quitting. As someone who breathed in second hand smoke til I was 16 years old, I say thanks

Good luck! Seriously! I know how hard it is. I've tried quitting twice now, and each time I went either 8-14 days before giving up I really never thought it would be so difficult to quit something, I'd do anything to go back and tell myself never to start.

Re: I'm going to quit smoking.

The first 2-4 weeks were the hardest for me. I think today makes 2 months to the day, and now I barely have any cravings at all. The best part is I am starting to be able to take nice long, deep breaths without it hurting Chantix worked pretty good for me this time.

And this might sound stupid, and even I still think it's ridiculous, but my wife is going on about 6 weeks now after being hypnotized. She quit so easily this time it really was unbelievable. And annoying.

Re: I'm going to quit smoking.

I quit smoking in November 2010 during a conversation I mentioned that I had smoked 22 years! 22 YEARS I was in shock!! Im 34 and finally made the decision to just stop cold turkey! the first few days were hard and every day I said just one more day after the first 2 weeks I had it in my head that was it! IM NOT going back EVER! Im soo happy I did and even though some days I want to smoke its not a physical addiction anymore its mental and I control MY mind!!
If I can do anything to help please feel free to contact me My name is Tammy YOU CAN do it dont let anyone tell you that you cant!!
good luck to everyone in this battle to quit!
