    So thank goodness!
Lol, I had the same thought when I saw the title. On a side note, I don't think I've ever seen a well cared for betta at a pet store, let alone walmart. They're all gray and sickly looking in Petsmart and a local pet store I've been in a lot. I don't think people think about but betta are a tropical fish and do better when the water is a little warmer.

True, but some local fish stores do a little better..not many though. That's why I bought my baby boy from a breeder, even if it was quite a bit of money in shipping! He is quite comfortable now at home in his 5 gallon tank

    Re: Balls Pythons at Wal-mart

omg this is just too funny! When I first got my BP I had to go to wal-mart to pick up a few things on the way home. (I live in the middle of no-where so going to wal-mart is a once a week trip.) Anyway the pet store girl gave me a snake bag and told me to just keep him in my purse and everything would be okay. So I did and everything was okay...until I had to pay for my stuff. I have a small purse, and I had to take the snake out to get to my wallet. Well he had been really, really still so I figured if I just hurried I could set him up on the little check-writting spot and the cashier would never know. Yeah...apparently Dante decided to wake up and stretch really big. I felt so bad, the lady freaked out on me and wouldn't let me explain. I tried appologizing over and over, but she said she was calling security so I had to run out of the store. Having snakes is cool, but I learned that they don't belong in main-stream public places. To many people are afraid of them.

I'm pretty sure it's not legal to take any animal into any store that sells food,
at least that's the laws here

we see people in walmart all the time with balls wrapped around there wrists wearing them like bracelets. It seems to be kind of a fashion thing around here. Usually most people dont even notice it. I dont really agree with it I feel that theres alot of people that are terrified of snakes and we should respect them by keeping our pets away from them just like they should respect us for wanting to keep them. But its still not as bad as when you see someone walking down the street with a burm wrapped around there neck...in the middle of the winter!

    Re: Balls Pythons at Wal-mart

I take my snakes to the pet store every chance I get! It's the best place for some education, and you would be amazed how much I have taught (and learned).

But to walmart? Probably not. I've thought about it a few times, but would they let me bring my dog in? No. So, I should leave my pets at home when grocery shopping. Way too many people I think.

I've taken snakes on food trips through the drive through. Now that is fun.

I should add, there is only one pet store I will take my snakes to. I am good friends with them, and I trust them. They take awesome care of their reptiles.

Great story. Must have been fun talking to the kid about his snakes.

I couldn't have said it better. As much as I'd love to take my snakes around and try to use them for education, there really are some people who will never be comfortable around them, and will always see them as threatening. I just wouldn't want to worry about someone flipping out and trying to call authorities on me or something, too much hassle and I wouldn't want to feel like I'm forcing anything on anyone. I think the best way to educate others is with scheduled programs or something similar, where they already have the understanding that the snake is going to be there and willingly approach it, not walking around the aisle of a store to find a snake in their face. Also, the only place I might ever take my snakes to would be a good pet store that I felt comfortable with and they knew me, etc. That's just me though.

In any case, I still think this story is pretty awesome haha I would probably be just as excited if I met someone else who was buying tubs for snakes, especially in a wal-mart in my area. It doesn't sound like you were waving the snakes around the store, and you were aware of people that might walk by, so I don't think there's anything wrong with it. As long as the kid didn't keep the bps out for too long, and made sure he got them home and warmed up asap, I'd say it sounds like a pretty fun day!!

Unless that animal is a certified service animal (says the gal with a service dog laying at her feet waiting to go out for dinner).

The same thought crossed my mind when I read the title! I was very pleased to read that Robin had a cool encounter with a fellow herper instead!
