    I know out here in California I don't put holes in my tubs because I with my newspaper substrate it's just too dry out here. All they need is a good misting every so often and they all seem to shed just fine for me without holes. I wouldn't be too worried about it though, as 40% is fine. What substrate do you use? Simple cypress mulch and a good misting should last a while even with holes.
