Please help choose
Hey everyone,
I need to choose one of the following males:
Cinnamon
Spider
Black pastel
Fire
Lesser
Butter
Enchi
Mojave
I would like to start breeding this year, I currently have a male pastel and a female normal, I am looking to buy another female normal.

This is a tough one, coz it really depends on what you wanna produce in the future. We can easily suggest certain morph on your list, but each of them produces different lookin combos. Like do you wanna produce bees or do you wanna produce non-bee combos w/ your pastel? So let me provide you a short list that will show you the possible outcome when bred any of those males to your pastel.
Cinnamon x pastel = pewter
Spider x pastel = bumblebee
Black pastel x pastel = black pewter
Fire x pastel = firefly
Lesser x pastel = lesser pastel
Butter x pastel = butter pastel
Enchi x pastel = enchi pastel
Mojave x pastel = pastave
Now which of those do you want most?

Unless I'm missing something, I think OP only has a normal girl and a male pastel. They are looking to get another male morph and a female normal in the future for breeding purposes. Male pastel x new male morph = no eggs. lol
But your post does ring true Pinoy, it's really up to OP seeing as it all depends on what OP wants to produce in the end.

True, but it would pay off more in the long run in terms of the diversity of your collection and higher prices for the babies that you want to sell. Because when you mix a morph with a normal, you’re either going to get that same morph or more normals. With two morphs, you have the potential to make combo morphs and new morphs (if you're extremely lucky). Things to consider.

Much better idea. Females take longer to mature and it would allow a lot more combos with your pastel male.

I was in the same boat because males were a bit cheaper and I didn't realize that females took an extra year to mature. I ended up buying a double morph male and 3 single morph females since I male can breed to multiple females with one male. I have the potential to make all sorts of great single, double, and triple gene morphs because of the snakes I invested in. I'm not a professional breeder but if the snakes can help support my habit then I'm all for it! I think you should invest in a single or double morph female that would compliment your pastel male. I would personally buy a Lemonblast, Spinner, Pewter or a Bumblebee. Breeding those to your pastel has a potential for great results.
Regards,
B

I am going to go with male spider. Male spiders are nice and cheap right now - + #1. You will get 50% spiders your first season. Then if you are lucky, you will have a female pastel from your other breeding that you can hold back for a future breed to your male spider and make awesome bees.
