    I'd give him a good 48 hours to digest before handling.

    Two things. I would give him a little more time before you handle him. 48 hours is a good amount of time. Ball Pythons don't every really WANT to be touched. They tolerate it. Right now your snake is in a new place and it doesn't feel totally safe. So anything could send him back into his hide where its safe. Give him time to settle in and learn that you are just part of the scenery and he will most likely be fine.

    A Breeder knowingly selling a BP with mites??? UGHHH?!?!?!?!?!?!? I would suggest not buying from that breeder in the future.
