They are, actually! As it stands right now, the first one is set to be released in 2013 and Ron Howard is directing, which I'm not really sure how I feel about that =/ but sai King is basically going to be a producer of sorts and have final say on everything, so hopefully they will be amazing!!

I completely agree with this!! I absolutely LOVE the LotR trilogy, I own all of the extended editions and I've watched them a million times I'm super excited for The Hobbit too!!
