That's not very helpful and kind of rude. Plenty of us travel. It was an accident and it happens.

As far as looking for you GTP, try setting up a hot spot for it in the room the cage was in. Make it secluded but easy to get to. And check often but try not to disturb the room too much. Like others said, look in places you might not consider.

We went out of town on our honeymoon and had a good friend watch our collection. When we came home a snake was missing and he had no idea how or when she got out. We found her right away under a shelving unit that had our AFS colonies on it, next to the rack.

Good luck and hope you find it soon.

, let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

I've been keeping herps on & off for about 30 years, and I've had a few escapes, crap happens, but now my babies have their own room (with no way out).

Myenia, do freak too much, I do hope your snake turns up safe & sound.

    Re: Missing GTP help

I guess a missing GTP is worse than a missing BP LOL.

Hopefully he'll turn up soon. Keep us updated for sure, I definitely want to know what happens in this case. Haven't seen a recent missing GTP story on the forum before. But I do hope he turns up soon and unharmed .

    What the?!

Flour works the same way and will not possibly harm or kill the snake??

Yah I have to agree, you have no place saying somthing so rude. Youre 25 years old, supposedly with ten years experience keeping snakes? Im guessing that involves like one or two over the years.

escapes happen to the best of us over time. Some are more adept at sneaking out than others, and accidents happen. The more you keep, the more likely it is to happen and I refuse to believe that in TEN years you have never left your snakes alone for a few days.

That said best wishes to the OP, keep your spirits up and as everyone said, look high and low. I might also suggest putting out some water since, to my knowledge, GTP require more than most so that might be some added incentive to come out of hideing.

    Re: Missing GTP help

back when i had cobbled together caging, i had quite a few escapes... best advice i ever got was be patient and be attentive. don't worry, sooner or later you are going to be startled by the site of a snake in front of you.
last escape i had was an 8ft carpet... i eventually found it coiled around a pipe in the basement next to the stairs, locked in an S position - i think it was stalking my cat!

Ever go to the store? You shouldnt own a pet, they could have escaped while you were gone.

To the OP, depending on when your snake last ate I have always found food to be a great incentive for a missing animal to make itself reappear. If I were in your shoes with a GTP what I would do is this: Get a cardboard box, like kind of a big one and cut a small entrance on each surface. Now, put the box with the open side down on the floor so you essentially have a giant hide box. K, inside your giant hide box, take whatever your snakes normal prey is - but make sure it's live prey - and put it in a kritter keeper or some other holding device with some food and water for it's own needs. The more perferated the animals holding device is, the better, you want your snake to smell it. I would also recomend putting some water inside the box for your snake as well. Now if you have a spare UTH take it and put it on the floor inside the box on one side and place either a brick or piece of tile on top of it (so your snake can not directly touch it). Lastly, since your lovie is a GTP I would put several perches in there for him, preferably the one from his cage if you can hot glue it to the box or stick it in there somewhere. The whole point to this is to make your snake come into this cozy place and not want to leave. Make it as close to an actual habitat as you can. Check it during the times of day when your snake is least active so that if he's in there he will likely be settled somewhere and not ready to bolt. Keep us updated and good luck to you!!!

Whoa a missing GTP!!!?? I would be terrified to sleep in my bed with those teeth lurking anywhere...lol

Good luck finding him. He most likely is curled up someplace warm like others have suggested.
