Looking at picking up this pair

I'm a BP guy but have been wanting a tame blood for a while. I'm doing a local trade for this pair. I guess they're super tame and from what I can tell, they look amazing. They are both captive bred Sumatran bloods from 2 different lines. The female is the darker one and the male is the lighter with more red. Please let me know what you think. Thanks

Very cool. I have really been thinking about getting a blood myself...

It's often hard to tell if they'll be red or not as adults, but I love the contrasting colors of those two as a pair. Their patterns are nice and the yellows are nice and bright. If you get a good deal, I'd go for it if I were you. Then again, I've become quite partial to bloods.

Its a start! The parents can give you a good idea, but there's always the chance for variability.

    Mind sharing the guys name?

I'll be happy to once I know it I got these guys yesterday afternoon from a girl named Tasha in Millersburg, Ohio. She acquired them from a friend of theirs who was the breeder. She advised that the babies were both captive bred and born. They are pretty sweet they'll let you touch their heads and handle very well. The only bummer was that the lighter one emitted that musk in the deli cup during the ride home. I've heard about it but until yesterday had never experienced it. It was pungent to say the least!
According to Tasha, she said the parents did lose a little color, but retained most of it, so we'll see as they age. I'm one of those people who will gladly sacrifice a little color for a good temperament They are home now and settling into their tubs. Funny note - both opted not to enter and use their hides. They are both coiled up next to them. I'll add some newspaper and some pieces of old worn t-shirt tonight.
I'll email Tasha this morning and ask who the breeder is.

    Thanks
    Jim
PS - I'm going to go get them sexed this weekend. According to my reading, the lighter ones are usually the female and the darker are usually male? If this proves accurate, then Tasha flip-flopped the sexes. If the females are more prone to musk, this would only further prove my suspicion.

Congrats on the new pickups! But I'm 99.99% sure that color has nothing to do with the sex of bloods.

I just uploaded some pics from my Galapagos Islands trip. I think they are worth checking out.
