BP move through sizes especially from hopper to adult not seeing the animal or having an idea of it's size simply remember to feed something equal to it's girth size.
As far as rat sizes I start my hatchlings on rat crawler/fuzzy, than it's pup, weanling, small and medium (I never feed anything larger)
