im not taking any advice badly, wether its a bit harsh or not, im taking it all in and i wasnt asking so i could buy them i was asking to know if this guy is giving me any good deals at all, hes the same one that sold me the skinny snake, wich is why im asking.

I appreciate everyones help and the first thing im doing when i get paid is buying housing, ive been doing research the entire time im on the computer on getting the rite humidity and heat for the snakes in tubs, i still think the heat tape will melt the plastic, no one ever replied about that part, and i am trying to get the best for these snake, yes im new to ball pythons and semi new to snakes in general but i do love them, im not here just to breed them, if it happens it happens, it would be a beautiful thing if they were gravid, and if they were i already have my eyes set on incubators and hatch rite.

I am in no way intentionally trying to hurt these animals, i enjoy holding them and seeing them calm and never hiding their heads, im learning and im searching for the supplies i will be getting, yeah i wasnt prepared money wise, since i spend 200 on tanks and 400 on the 3 snakes, i understand i could have gotten them much more comfortable housing for that much, but before i didnt know that. Wich is why i found this site.

Think about it, if all i thought about was breeding them i wouldnt have posted that i was worried about my snake, i wouldnt have changed their housing with hides when i was advised to, i wouldnt care that my snake feels guilty for biting the other, i wouldnt even be posting after some things that have been said, but i am here, im still posting, and im not yelling and being irrational about whats being said to me, im accepting it because its true, i would rather ask experienced people like everyone here then believe something the shop owner tells me the first time im told.

He also told me its a good thing to feed ball pythons quail, is that true? i mean, there are only a couple reptile shops around where i live and so far both are BS apparently.

Heat tape will not melt plastic tubs if the heat is controlled by a proper thermostat.

Also, I was just reading that smaller Ball Pythons do eat birds in the wild but I have never heard of any keeper (at least not yet) that feeds birds to a captive BP. Mice/Rats/ASFs seem to be the norm.

You will find this is the case with most animal shops. Animals are usually treated as just items, money, etc. They will do whatever they can to make a sale. Can't afford two cages? Don't worry they love to be social of course~! Other times they are simply given bad information, and then the cycle continues as they give new owners bad information etc.

I don't suggest feeding ball pythons quail. The problem is, if they decide they like quail....They might never eat rats again. And quail will be a lot more expensive and difficult to find than rats. You don't want your bp to be spoiled on a difficult food item to get!

yeah your right, i hadnt thought about the picky eater thing, i really wouldnt want that to happen, rats are much easier to get, even though the shop who told me about them has a constant supply of them.

that is a very nice set up, sadly even if i want to do that i dont know where to start, i have shelves and a white plastic shelf like thing but nothing i would think would be able to handle heat.

your heat source will be controlled so everything will only be exposed to heat in the low to mid 90's. and it will not melt anything or cause ny issue, atleast not for a long time. also make sure the rack you are looking at are not too big for your snakes, they need appropriately sized tubs
A room full of empty racks and thermostats that have been unplugged.

Re: can anyone tell me if these are good deals?

I understand your addiction. I started with one snake that my boyfriend bought me cause his parents wouldn't let him have one at their house. He bought one and he bought me one. We started with aquariums that housed multiple baby snakes. We never had a problem. Each snake had its own hide and we fed in a different enclosure. Aquariums are a pain to clean. Racks are much easier. Eventually we got a rack. He built a rack that will hold 32 41Qt tubs for around $350. The reason why it was so expensive is because it is set up with 2 thermostats. (One as a back up in case one goes bad) Well long story short. He bought lots and lots of snakes than lost interest. We broke up. I bought everything off of him. I took care of them all from the start. I knew what I was getting into. I'm a proud owner of 26 ball pythons and over 100 rats. LOL. I might have started with different mutations, but I love all my snakes.

The only thing that you can do is learn as much as you can! 2 great books that are a must have are VIP book and Kevin McCurleys book! They are great to read!
