I suspect that Lukestimp meant to say that you are "wrong" regarding normals "will not produce morphs". If you breed a normal to a codom or dominant (pastel, spider, mojave, lesser etc....) you WILL likely end up with approximately 50% visual MORPHS despite the male (or female) being a normal. You appear to be correct regarding breeding recessives. Both male and female would have to either be visual for a the same morph or at the very least BOTH would need to be Het to have a chance at producing a visual morph.

I think I'm being taken out of context here. Normals will not produce morphs on their own. Well of course co-dom and dom genes will most likely show up when bred to normals. I guess I was just saying that breeding a normal to a normal will produce no morphs. Thats just how the original question sounded to me. I just assumed he'd be breeding it to another normal. Thanks for chiming in.

Normal males are for pets, not for breeders. If you think there is something "special" about the male, then he really isn't a normal, he's a "dinker" until proven either genetic (you get to play the name the morph game) or he's back to being just a nice normal (back to be a pet again).

Thanks, are my chances further increased for a visual morph if I bred him to a super female, co-dom x co-dom?

Breeding a normal male to a super female makes all co-doms so your chance of making a morph from a super form is 100%

    Wild type(normal) X Super Pastel = 100% pastels
Wild type(normal) X Super black pastel = 100% black pastels

    co-dom X co-dom is 25% wild type, 50% co-dom, 25% super

The point JayCee made is that almost nobody breeds normal males and especially to super females since it's so inexpensive to get a male morph to breed to that super female.
If that normal male is a dinker that might prove out then that changes things.
