1. If the snake is going into shed that might be a reason, check for pink belly and eyes turning blue.

2. Check for mites by looking into the bowl with a flashlight and if the snake has mites you'll see black specks in the bottom.

3. Over-heated snakes will soak to hide from the heat, check ambient temps and hot spots.

4. Short of those reasons some snakes just enjoy soaking but I always go through the checklist if I see a snake soak
