    are tubs secure?

how do you secure your uncovered tubs in a rack? if you use any. is it safe not to secure them in case the balls want to escape? can they force the tub out?
    thanks in advance!!

ps. i recently build a cheap rack ( 3rd one ) but this time i decided to put uncovered the tubs cause its easier. but i havent secure the front of the tubs and i want to know your opinions about that.

I use AP racks which use uncovered tubs and never had an escape and don't see how they could possibly slide the tub out...if the tubs fit right it's a non-issue...

They may not be superman, but they are amazing escape artists. If you honestly think that they may be able to escape, there is a good chance they can. I have a home made rack as well and I use the lids that come with the tubs just to be safe. I like to error on the safe side!

Well can they escape of coarse they can, now will they? prob not. think about what it would take for them to move the tub out, they would have to either anchor themselves to the rack on top or the tub on the bottom and push while maintaining grip on the tub and top at the same time and move it the correct way, also while not getting their own body in the way. also they would have to have the strength to do so also, a hatchling isn't moving a 6qt tub no matter what.

Their not intelligent animals, I've never herd of someones snake figuring out how to do that. don't worry about it. escape stories always start with "someone left the tub open a little and.....".

I've never had an escape from tubs. With your rack and a 1mm space at the top, I don't foresee them getting out in the future.

I actually just had an escape from my rack. My 2500g female somehow pushed her tub out. I'm looking at putting some type of sliding rod or something to use as a stopper

    Re: are tubs secure?

Maybe you could drill a hole in each shelf and stick a golf tee in each one to keep the tubs from sliding out...
