I'm sorry, I was only talking about the thermometer. Not the Thermostat. I agree, thermostat probe goes outside. I should have clarified more. I misread the other post.

Thanks for all your feedback everyone! I'm still learning how to do replies and such on here so bear with me
I got a second thermometer yesterday and the rest of my stuff (thermostat, thermometer) should be here this week. I'm hoping once I get everything all set up, I can go from there as to where my humidity and such is. Humidity stays pretty high here (I'm surrounded by water pretty much lol) but I'm hoping I don't have any issues.
I also bought a rock hide yesterday and then my friend suggested making a hide out of a butter tub so I'm doing that as well. I like the idea to add some construction paper around the tank while he is still small so that way he doesn't get too stressed. I'll pick some of that up tonight.
I also have a spray bottle for misting to help with humidity. Do I just spray it all over the substrate? Will it hurt if I get my BP wet? That might be a dumb question but I'm still a new BP Mom
So my main concern is with the UTH. I'm scared to death that I'm going to burn the guy if he lays directly on it, that's why I got the carpet to put over it. If I have my thermostat hooked up, what temp should I keep it on? I guess my question is, carpet or no carpet? If he burrows under the substrate and lays on the glass I don't want him to get burned.
I should be getting him this week hopefully, there is snow in the Midwest so the guy is waiting for the temps to go back up before he ships him. Keeping my fingers crossed that he's here on Friday, can't wait to share pictures!

No carpet... but make sure to have that thermostat hooked up! Try setting it at 95, thermostat probe taped to the uth, and see how that does in the tank, put a thermometer probe on the glass inside the tank, above the uth.

For the hides, I'd suggest that whatever you use you should have them match, in case he feels that one is more secure than the other, because they'll favor security over warmth, to their own detriment.
with misting you can mist all over the substrate, a bit of water won't harm your bp (not that he'll be happy about it lol)

And as wax32 said, thermostat probe set to about 95 and take readings from inside the tank so you can adjust accordingly to keep it at about 90 - 92. With the thermometer probe, DON'T use tape inside the enclosure. Just to clarify.
