    Baby boa feeding question...

I don't have her home yet, but I called the store to ask what size mice she's eating and they said adult mice.

Now that seems quite big for her, being that she can't be more than a month old and she just seems so tiny to me (used to ball pythons and their fatness lol). What would you feed her if you were in my place?

That's the rule that I use, which is why it took me off guard when they told me she was eating adult mice... Maybe their mice are small, I don't know, but the adult mice I'm used to are waaayy too big to fit inside her.

I guess I'll just have to figure that one out when I get to it.

With any snake you feed them a meal that is as thick, as the thickest part of the snakes body. Sometimes a little bit larger, but anything to large will cause the animal to regurgatate. When you get the boa home take some pictures, some babies can take bigger mice than others.

    Good Luck

For first meals in a new home, I like to feed my snakes extra-small meals, just to be on the safe side. Start with fuzzy mice and move up as you feel appropriate.

My guess would be hopper mice, smaller than an adult but bigger than a fuzzy. Most babies that places ship are on hoppers in my experiences.

I found a good caresheet on a boa forum that said from newborn to three months should be eating one rat pinkie or fuzzy (depending on the size of the snake) every 4 or 5 days.

I would think a normal size adult mouse should be fine. Need some pics when you get that girl as well.
