The whole returning hets thing is kind of a non-issue IMO because in the 5 ot 6 years you have into a snake before you can reasonablly feel you have held up your end on proving out, its a bigger investment then the updated price of the het in question, IE a 100% Het albino 6 yrs ago was probly bought for 700+ and now it doesnt prove out so you go back to the breeder and complain well chances are if they are still in business you will get your new het, now worth about 100 bucks, and your back to square one with a new baby. Its the time you lose in hets, its a gamble. So if your going the Het route try and buy from reputable people and maybe do a little praying to the snake gods before you settle on one. Just MHO
I understand your point, and this was one of my reasons for what you should get for the effort that was put into a female. I understand that some hets after getting up to size wouldn't be worth giving back just for a hatchling, and if the first one didn't prove out, what's your chances on the second one proving out with the same breeder?
but what about hets like a ultramel female that goes for 2,000 or worse how about a toffee or het toffee? I'm sure that with a snake that carries this much value, the guarantee details should be all up front and spelled out.
