    Is my female "building?"

This is my second year breeding, so I am still pretty new to it. Recently I paired my mojave male to my normal female. She just turned three and is 1900 grams so I decided to see if she was ready. Last week he was in with her for 4 days and I never witnessed a lock. When I did look they were very close to each other, and sometimes their tails were right next to each other. Never witnessed a lock though...Today my g.f noticed that she looked "lumpy." I remember reading about it, but never really noticed it last year. I just remember my females getting really big prior to laying. Do they get this lumpy look because their pregnant or do they do this during breeding season anyway? If anyone can give me some good info on the subject I would really appreciate it!
