Albino ball python breeding question.
I have a male high contrast albino and a het for albino female. I tried plugging them in a genetic wizard and the results I get are 50% het albino-high contrast and 50% het albino-high contrast, het albino. So why no albinos? Would I need to get a het high contrast female to produce a albino? Thanks for reading

Re: Albino ball python breeding question.
That's the problem with the genetics wizard - it just plugs in the names of whatever you put in.
In theory you would get 50% het albinos (high contrast) and 50% albinos, some will be high contrast, some won't.

Re: Albino ball python breeding question.
The "wizard" isn't all that wise. It probably assumed you were entering two different genetic morphs...rather than two different versions of the same morph.
A high contrast albino to a het albino will give you (on average) half the clutch being albino babies and half the clutch being 100% het for albino.
As for the "high contrast" part of the equation, I'm not really sure how that would translate. Is it a specific genetic trait that can be predictably passed on? Or is it simply a description of a particular look? (ie: A normal can be "high gold" but that trait may or may not translate into its offspring.)

High contrast albinos are just selectively bred albinos, they are still albinos. Like a low white pied is still a pied, a high white spider is still a spider, reduced pin is still a pin, ect...

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Cause it just didn't add up to me when I did the wizard and seen the results. Your the best folks. Thanks again. Bruce

I have a question about albinos, why is it that you never see faders for sale? I had a girl but she died of an RI. Are they that rare?

you have to selectively breed for faded albinos, you have to selectively breed for high contrast. More people like high contrast, therefore if your going to put all that work into selectively breeding, your going to choose the bigger market. Personally I think faded albinos look low quality, its not a look most people would go for. so not alot of people try to make them.

I can see where your coming from on them looking low quality, but the girl I had, I loved how little pattern she had. I personally think my regular albino female looked worse then her

What makes a good morph ? People like different things in morphs and to me it a personal thing. Not long ago I got an adult male spider very high White which I love were as the guy I got him from does not like the high White.
If you like something to me that's what matters. I have around 20 balls. Maybe not all the best examples but to me they are perfect.
