I was thinking of getting another female as crbballs suggested in the mean time, maybe I could mix things up a bit in a few seasons. She's still very young, only 115g to date.. so I have lots of time to plan the combo (good and bad).. Although I'm not sure on the male you guys are full of such great ideas here its hard not to get excited.

The same thing I would breed to a plain pastel female, but having the female be super pastel would simply increase the odds of hitting a combo.

If I had the money to have purchased and raised up a female super pastel to be breedable this year, I would likely have the money for at least a male lemon blast or other two-trait combo. As a fairly affordable combo, pairing up a lemon blast with a super pastel gives you decent odds at hitting the super blast.

I likely have the money, I just don't know the combos as well as I should I didn't really purchase the pastel to make money etc, but after some comments and reading up on it, it sounds like a challenging project and of course I love challenges. Being someone that is also highly interested in biology I think I would really enjoy getting into breeding as a hobby. That said, I'm looking at a few options, lemon blast does look interesting

What would happen if I were to breed a lesser platinum + spider (lesser bee??) to my super pastel? Would that be a good combo?

yes, that'd be a spectacular combo, and goes by the name Queen Bee. You have a 1/4 chance at each egg being a queen bee with breeding super pastel x lesser+spider

Personally I like to shoot for homozygous (aka super) pastel combos. Like I mentioned, if you pair your super pastel female with a lemon blast male, you have a good shot at a SUPER blast, which is one awesomely yellow animal.

Additionally, if you paired the super pastel female with ANY pastel-combo male, you have a good shot at a combo that includes super pastel. Pair her with a bumblebee, and you can hit the killer bee. Pair her with a pastel lesser, and you can hit the super pastel lesser. Pair her with a firefly, and you can get the superfly (I think that's what a super pastel fire is called). Get the trend here? lol. I LOVE combos that include super pastel.

You could get a butter bumblebee..basicly same thing as a queen bee just with a butter instead of lesser. Also you could get bumblebees, butter pastel and pastels.
