Oh, I know exactly what you mean - because I do it too! Must be a woman thing, LOL. Last night my dog was upset, because the cat decided to eat his food... he was giving me this super pathetic look, so I broke into monologue for him. "Mommmy? I really wanted to eat that food, but now the kitty's eating it. I didn't tell her she could, but she took it anyway... tell her that's not nice."
