    Honestly, that probably wasn't the rodents health so much as you using too warm of water to heat that rat up Or did you use a lamp or blowdryer? I bet if you were to let your rats air-thaw, there is a good chance you'd not see that again, at least not to that extent, which looked to be total disembowelment. Sorry, wanted to use that word

    omg.. i totally forgot about that!! heating a rat with water that's too hot can cause it to burst! i haven't personally seen that, but i've heard of that! it happens mostly to pinkys.. that was probably it! i'm so relieved! horribly sight though i hope none of you guys go through that hahaha

    it was like a cyst popping! ugh

    I've seen it happen once or twice, and when I noticed the pattern, I immediately used cooler water, or if time permitted, a complete air thaw of the rat in a bag out on the balcony. Never had the problem since.
