My first was a rescue basically. A girl was selling it because she was moving. Its a 2007 and only weighed 350g when i got it. Its now 1100g pounding 2 small rats per week. I got it back in June of this year. I havnt had it sexed yet. Id be phyched if it was a girl. I could breed my Cinny to it next year. Its a very solid snake for feeding it so much. Not obese at all.

Re: Where did you purchase your first BP....breeder or pet store?

Marbles, my normal, came from someone who was moving to Japan and looking to place a couple corns and Marbles in a good home. So I took him and read up on BP care. He's sweet, gentle, and now that he's over his initial I-don't-want-to-eat thing, a great eater.

My second one is a spider girl I won in a raffle at Daytona to raise money for USARK. She came from a breeder who donated her for the cause. Somebody else donated a pied hatchling. A friend of mine won that one and swapped the pied BP for an equally valuable corn snake morph as she is only into corn snakes.

I will buy from a breeder when I get my next beeper.
    Blessed be, Betsy

Our first, (she is my girlfriends snake) came from Petsmart. Our second, came from a hobby breeder in the GTA.

Although I did my research I brought Khan from a pet store. He was in good health and his living environments were very clean. As soon as I held him and checked him out he came home with me. The pet store was a small mom and pop store.

My second one however is from a breeder so this will be interesting.

I agree that some pet stores are legit while others I'd steer far and clear away from them.

My first one was from a manager of a pet store that got him from someone that wasn't feeding him enough. Still the only snake in the house that will refuse to eat a black rodent. The second was one that someone dropped off at the other pet store, supposedly came from a home of a deaf person and they thought loud noises would bother her. As of now both are fat and happy, I'm pretty sure my first is a male and second is female between size difference and the way the first guy acted a few hours after we got the second one home. Never seen him so active the whole time I had him, even now he'd rather be a lazy bum.

Got my 1st from a pet supplies plus store where the manager was a small time breeder. She no longer does it though. Excellent health and very good eater!! My next two will be from a breeder here in Ohio.
