    From looking at the pictures I am going to have to say it looks like he could have possibly rubbed himself raw. Besides the retained eye caps how was his shed overall? Is there tape or anything sharp in his enclosure? I would put him on newspaper for right now you should clean the wound, apply some Neosporin (w/o the pain medication) and keep a eye on it. Hope this help.
