    The neat thing is that you can plan ahead for what you want to produce. You just need a basic understanding of genetics, and the patience to wait a few years to get there, unless you buy ones that are already hets.

    There's actually a statistical formula to figure this out but the problem is the leucistics. Theoretically a lucy is the end regardless of adding new genes. They can carry them but you won't see them so what's the point? That's where it gets complicated because they can be used in combos but you can't have two of them or it wipes everything out. Then you have the phantoms and mystics which create lucies with some but not with a mojave. And it can be argued that the super mojave and the ivories aren't the end since they are affected by additional genes. Enough to make even a statistician's head spin. Oh, and then co-doms count twice too. Just look at cinnies/pastels. There are 4 combos just using those two! This is something I've been wanting to plug into a formula but haven't had time yet.

    I think were more around 80 base morphs by now...so 80!=7.1569457 × 10 to the 118th power

    im sure once you add enough genes, their all gonna start looking the same tho.

    I remember reading somewhere that as of 2009 there was 430 known morphs, but i can't cite the information, nor remember where i read it. Either way, over time everything will be mixed together and we will have snakes with genectics from 40 or 50 different snakes in them.

    The more I've thought about it, the more complicated it gets. It's not just a lucy that can be white. A lesser/pied is all white too (not the super of the lesser, just the lesser and pied). Then the axanthic/albino is pretty much white too. The formula wouldn't be complicated if you had a complete list of recessives, dominant and co-doms(counted twice) and just wanted to know all the combos. But I'd really like to single out meaningless combos and that's very difficult because you don't know how different genes might react to each other until it's done. Who would have thought the Phantom would produce a lucy with a lesser/butter but not a mojave? Who would think a Lesser/Pied would be all white but not a Mojave/Pied?

    i just thought of a great way to figure this out just ask the Evil Morph God over at NERD how many morphs there are! he has them all pretty much im super jealous his snakes are amazing

    maybe that should be the question how many morphs does NERD have?

    That's why it is so important to keep accurate breeding records, because there will be snakes with identical phenotypes, but completely different genotypes. And that makes it important to buy from somebody you trust, as is the case with buying hets also.
