    Hotspot?

Hey guys, well I am planning on getting 2 corns to breed very soon, but I was wondering, I have read here that they only need a hot spot of 80 - 84f

    Is this true?

Also, if this is true, can I just keep them at my ambient room temp (80F)?

How would I go about providing a cool side?

My problem is I keep my room at 79 - 81 - 83 so if I kept the temps that way there wouldnt be a cool side lol

So how would I provide a cool side (if its true that they dont need a 90 hot spot)

    Any help is appreciated

I've been learning more about corns also. Like, this website says hot spot of 88-92, but then some people said that will cook them.

If I'm correct, ambient can be 78-80 with a hot spot of 80-84.

You could direct a small fan at them if you think there tubs are getting too hot.

I'm not sure if Corns need a hot spot, or if they can just do good with a single ambient temp of 80-82.

I'm sure someone will chime in.

That ambient temp is fine, some wouldn't even bother with a hot spot as long as that temp is consistant. I keep mine on a uth though and his hotspot is 83. There is another forum like this one for cornsnakes, It's called cornsnakes.com.

I apologise in advance if I am not allowed to give out info like that.

Ah, so I could just keep the entire enclosure at 80 - 82 and it would be fine? no need for a cool spot?

Either do a 82-84 hot side with a 75-77 cool side or just keep room in the low 80s and no hot spot.

When i kept corns they just got 82 room amb temp not heat from rack.

    Re: Hotspot?

If you can't get your ambient temp lower I'd definitely not have a hot spot. As blueappleherps posted in another thread "ignore the care sheet temps". Corns DO NOT need 88-90 degrees.

    Good to know

My room stays at 79 - 81 at all times so it should be good to go

    Thanks
