What do you consider ownership? I caught snakes as a kid and kept them as a pet until I was bored with them then I would let them go and get a new one. Does that count or do you mean when I first bought a snake?

Haha, I got my first snakes this year! Very mature old age of 19 Not very young due to the fact animals in cages weren't allowed in our house (isn't a house like a big cage for a dog?! Pffffft). As soon as I had the money when I moved out I jumped on a nice pair o' balls from Garrick

24 years old here! Just bought my first ball python a few months ago. I've always wanted one but my mom would not have it. Her argument was that it would eat her small dog. Haha. So once I moved out, settled in and figured out finances, I went and bought my first ball, i love him!

When I was 8 or 9 I got a ball python from my mom's boss. I learned a lot about husbandry with that snake much at her expense. She got burned from a hot rock. She also ended up with severe rat bites on her back when I left a rat in her cage over night when she was in blue. That required several trips to the vet. And finding a vet to treat a snake was no easy task 25 years ago. Even through all of that I had her for 14 years. I have no idea how old she was when I got her but she was an adult. She died about 3 days after laying a clutch of eggs about 10 years ago. I still have one of her daughters from that clutch. Before anyone gets all pissed off just remember I was 8 years old and we had no internet.

My first reptile was a leopard gecko, and that was at age 11. My first BP I got in summer of 2008, so I was 18.
