Unhappy Red stuff inbetween scales around mouth on my Ball Python.

I just now noticed this today and can't tell whether it is harmful to my BP or not. I think it is blood from feeding, or maybe he nicked his lip when he yawned. If anyone knows please help, thanks.

I tried my best with Photoshop to fix the same picture, It is very difficult trying to get him not to move and I don't want to force it, but the spot I am talking about is on the lower lip below the eye. See how it is different from the top, the dark edges of the scales really scares me.

Do a mouth check (using a Q-tip) to make sure there isn't a splinter lodged in it's gum.

I'll give his mouth a look, but I don't use aspen or any wood like bedding so I don't think it could be a splinter.

No I fed him a fairly large F/T last time it might have stretched his mouth a little too much.

it would have to be really really large for that to happen i mean like 3-4 times the widest part of its body...... what are you useing as bedding? or while doing a mouth check see if maybe he lost a tooth and maybe it bled a little.....

    goodluck..

My first thought was septicemia, but that's a really serious whole-body thing that results from an untreated infection...

Just a little red between the scales around one spot on his mouth? Really doesn't sound like a big deal. Could be some skin showing through after the stretching, could be blood from food, live or frozen. I'd say check his mouth and if all seems well, don't worry about it.
